Frequently Asked Questions

You will have a lot of questions in relation to wedding photography.  These are the most common questions I am asked by couples when they contact me.  But please do contact me should you have any other questions that I may not have included below.

Do you only shoot in Kent?

The short answer is no.  You will see from the diagram below that I cover weddings across the UK.  Whilst I do shoot most of my weddings in Kent and surrounding counties (East and West Sussex, London and Essex), I have also shot across the UK going as far afield as Tyneside, Northumberland and Scotland.  And I've also shot weddings overseas

How much do you charge?

All the info you need is on the Price page here.  Generally though I provide a bespoke service and price based on the requirements of the couples I work with.  Every couple is different so I provide a service that reflects that.

Are you the sort wedding photographer who takes over on the day?

No! I couldn't think of anything worse.  It's your day and I'm there to be your eyes on the day so you can concentrate on you and your guests.   We don't spend ages doing group pictures as there is nothing worse than bored guests stood for ages in groups.  That's the only time I come close to taking over; it's to ensure we get through those photos quickly and pain free.  The rest of the time it's about me sinking into the woodwork and capturing the day as it happens.

Is it only you shooting the wedding?

The vast majority of the time it is just me shooting the wedding.  Occasionally I am asked to bring a second shooter.  I have a group of photographers whom I trust to provide the quality of service I expect and deliver.  So if you do want a second shooter on the day please do enquire and I will be able to provide you with a cost based on me being assisted on the day with a colleague.

Do we have to feed you?

Well, I never turn food down.  If you want to feed me on the day then it is really appreciated.  I don't require a seat at a table with your guests.  I generally find a quiet spot to recharge whilst you and your guests are eating.  All I ask is that you let me know if you won't be feeding me so that I can make my own arrangements for food.

How soon before the wedding should we book you?

I always say it's never too early.  I only shoot a maximum of 25 weddings a year.  Key dates in the summer around May, June, July and August do get booked early on.  I am currently taking bookings for 2024.  So to avoid disappointment drop me a line as soon as you have your venue booked.

How long do you stay with us on the day?

Every wedding is different but most people tend to ask me to cover from bridal prep through to first dance.

What happens if you're ill on the day?

I've been shooting weddings for over 20 years.  I've never yet had to make the dreaded phone call.  I've shot days after breaking my hand back in 2012.  I take every precaution to ensure my health and fitness which includes not drinking alcohol or eating out or getting a take away the night before the wedding.  But I do have a network of photographers I know well who I can call on should the worst happen.  Your peace of mind is key.  Which also means backing up your images on site and offsite as well as having back up kit.
